Today, we have witnessed huge Industry growth this growth has also identified capabilities of technology. When technology has merged with businesses, it also leads to a growth opportunity for technology professionals in India. IN this case, these technology professional I am referring to CIOs or the respective IT heads of orgarnizations.
Specially the growth of service industry has also fueled the growth for CIOs in India. It is well understood that the IT infrastructure of any organization today is supporting it’s business. In some cases IT is driving the business.
Even though in such advancing scenario, it also becomes sometimes difficult for the IT manager or the CIO to convince the top management for deploying any new technology. However, it also depends person to person or organization to organization. In addition to this, it becomes also very important to convey the competitive advantage of business and involvement of technology in that. CIOs can do that by bringing tangible benefits of technology for their organizations. After its only profitability and benefits that matters a lot for the top management.
Interestingly, as far as growth is concerned, my experience is not that bad. But frankly speaking I also don’t know the road ahead from this point. However, it is kind of wait and watch situation for me.
For young IT professionals it looks a great future in India. I should say, that way IT has been taken up by most of the businesses, there is a huge demand to fill that demand of the organizations. Industry needs good IT professionals.
However, what is essential to achieve success in today’s CIO career, is to know about the core business. It is important for the IT head to know about what is the basic business model of the organization. After knowing that, the CIO can then leverage the best mix of technology for their businesses. Continuing thinking on business benefits of technology becomes crucial for CIO. Competitive advantage that IT can provide to a business needs to be evaluated by and IT expert who knows that business, so it becomes a challenging role for a CIO. There are many ways CIOs can achieve success and they are achieving success in Indian businesses, but the successful IT managers are following the same way of knowing their respective business and then mixing the technology blend in it. |
